With more than a decade of college counseling experience and a Graduate Certificate (with distinction) in College Counseling from UCLA, Marissa has the tools to help you navigate the complex and ever-changing college admissions world. Active in the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the Potomac/Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling, and the Small Boarding School Association, she has presented in national and regional conference sessions on Advocating for Students, Finding Fit Beyond the Rankings, and Helping Students with Anxiety Transition to Boarding School and Beyond. She keeps current on college admissions trends through attending conferences and workshops, participating in webinars, and visiting multiple college campuses each year. Armed also with a Masters Degree in Secondary English Education and many years experience teaching English, she helps guide students to write meaningful, successful admissions essays that help convey students’ stories to the admissions office.
In addition to working in public and independent schools, she has provided college counseling for the Royal Thai Scholars during the past three summers, and has been a Site Director for Johns Hopkins’ Center for Talented Youth summer programs for twelve years.
